The Elderberries Spring Party

On 25th March, The Garden hosted a lively Spring Party for the Elderberries, with dozens attending, making it a truly memorable occasion. Guests enjoyed an afternoon filled with dancing, laughter, and a delicious afternoon tea, alongside fantastic entertainment from Jennifer Hastings Music and the Alnwick Allstars.

The Elderberries programme at The Alnwick Garden brings together people aged 55 and over to reduce loneliness and support positive ageing through shared experiences in a welcoming environment. Participants benefit from regular social connection, gentle physical activity, and opportunities to learn new skills, all of which contribute to improved mental and emotional wellbeing. By engaging with nature and others, individuals often build confidence, develop friendships, and gain a renewed sense of purpose and belonging within their community.

The Spring Party was a huge success, leaving many with sore feet and smiling faces the next day after so much dancing and fun. Programmes like Elderberries are vital, and with support from the Bright Garden Appeal, they can continue to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
